Groundwork Member – Chris C

I had been attending a gym that focused on ‘movement’ for several years and was looking for a change.

Understanding that resistance training would be beneficial for someone my age (74 y.o.) I began looking for a suitable gym. A friend drew my attention to Groundwork, and after meeting with Karl, I thought that I would give it a try.

After nine months training I have enjoyed a number of benefits:

An increase in overall strength,

A few ‘injury issues’ have been significantly reduced and my lower back feels much stronger,

I enjoy the satisfaction of steady improvement and meeting weekly challenges and achieving the

goals set,

There is also camaraderie among the like-minded people that attend the gym on a regular basis.

Initially, I had reservations due to lower back weakness and an ongoing knee injury, and some concerns that the program would not offer enough variety. Both these concerns proved unfounded. Karl has an excellent knowledge of the physical aspects of weight training and his attention to absolute detail eliminates any risks that might come from not doing the exercises correctly.

I have no hesitation in recommending Groundwork and Karl’s training to anyone thinking about

improving their health as they age. Just resolve to ‘give it a go’ and trust in Karl’s knowledge and

professional approach.
